The article presents the recently released Apple TV for Mac or Windows. The article discusses the features of the Apple TV. That it is a box with a 40 GB hard drive capacity which is able to form a direct link between the PC and the TV. Its main feature is that video and audio downloaded from the Apple I-Tunes store via an internet connection, can be viewed on regular TV. The author lists several potential advantages for users of the Apple TV. The Apple TV will be a less time consuming way of acquiring and viewing videos as it eliminates the need to get physical copies of DVDs to view on the TV set via a DVD player. It also promises to be simpler and more convenient as users do not have to load discs into players. The integrity and quality of files are preserved eliminating worries of damages as well. The author also suggests possible disadvantages to the use of the Apple TV. Due to digital rights management principles there is the concern that users will not own the material and may not be able to recover lost material. The author summarizes by weighing the disadvantages of DVDs as compared to the Apple TV and concludes that the former is still safer. |

This is indeed a welcomed product for many individuals. Those into digital media and home entertainment systems would be particularly interested in this product as it offers new options for obtaining and viewing videos. These persons would have the benefit of sound and video quality possible on the TV screen with the accessibility of online viewing content combined via the box. This is a product I would definitely consider purchasing because of the conveniences it offers but I would limit its use to content I am otherwise unable to find. This product is another step in reinventing digital media |
